Mount Ida Painters Guild started in 1992 when a few amateur artists decided to meet so they could paint together. Without any formal instruction, members were encouraged to improve their craft through the ideas and critique they received from fellow painters.
In 2004 the Mount Ida Painters Guild joined the Shuswap District Arts Council.
Members have shown individually in the Salmon Arm Art Gallery, at various venues throughout the Shuswap, and across Canada.
Each year painters from the group as well as guest artists are invited to demonstrate new techniques for the benefit of the members.
Mount Ida Painters Guild meets at the Seniors Drop-In Centre opposite the Salmon Arm Art Gallery every Monday and Tuesday. Standing 6 feet high and 20 feet wide along the north wall, the mural below was created by the members. It was a group effort, and a lot of fun was had by all.
